This Friday night the businesses on Third Street Downtown Chico are having a special event from 5pm to 8pm in honor of you our customers. Each business has planed something special, most will have refreshments and some will have live music. My business, Art E Studio will be open. I'm offering a once in a life time deal to all my customers. I've marked down eleven of my acrylic paintings to $11. The original prices range from $35. to $95. I've also set aside six of my 16x20 oil paintings and have marked them at $111. for this night only. These paintings sell for $720 each regularly. What's with all the $11's? Well this Friday is 11-11-11 and I thought it would be fun to play off those numbers.

The Student Art Show Is Now On Display

For the entire month of July the art work on display at Art E Studio is the work of the Art E students. Tonight is the opening reception from 4pm to 8pm. Some of the students will be on hand creating art and talking with the public. We are also having a "Peoples Choice" award. Everyone who comes to view the works are encouraged to vote for their favorite 3 paintings. But in order to vote they have to pay a dollar. At the end of the month the ballets will be counted and the money divided amongst the top three winners. The kids are very excited about the money and all of them want to win. I encouraged them to tell all their family and friends to come vote for them. This way they can get a better feel for marketing their work. So far everyone who has come in and voted has had great feedback. Some had a very hard time making their choices. Take a look at the images below for a glimpse of their work. Some paintings have been added since I took those pictures. Notice all those blue ribbons and that great big purple one? Those are ribbons won from two local fairs, the Silver Dollar and Shasta fair.

Springtime Art Fiesta Was A Great Event

This past weekend ChiVAA (Chico Visual Arts Alliance) put on their first art event "Art Fiesta" at the Matador Motel. The event was well organized and well received. I don't know how many people stopped by my booths, it felt like thousands. I was so busy with the kids in my "painting" booth I didn't have a chance to talk with all the people who stopped in my display booth. However, the ones I did talk to were so surprised and blown away by the quality, expertise and talent of my students. Everyone was shocked to learn how old they were, especially with Annie's painting. I sometimes forget not everyone grew up in an art gallery or had an art teacher for a mother. I'm proud of all my students, young and old(er). Each one strives to learn and improve on their skills. Many have shown their work and have won ribbons. I love showing off their talents when ever I can.

Art Fiesta

Come join Art-E-Studio at Art Fiesta on May 6th and 7th, 2011 at the historic Matador Motel on The Esplanade. This event is hosted by ChiVAA (Chico Visual Arts Alliance). It’s their first Annual Springtime Art Fiesta, celebrating the art of Chico. Many local artists will be there along with fiesta food, latin music and art demonstratiions. Parking is available and FREE at the Chico Nut Company’s lot at 10th Avnue and the Esplanade.

I’ll be doing a color wheel class Saturday morning from 10-12 and then again at 5-7pm. Cost for this class is just $10.00 per person and includes supplies.

For the younger kids I’ll have two fun Mexican themed projects for them to work on from 1pm to 4pm. Projects should only take an hour each. Parents can bring kids any time during the 1 to 4pm session and then go enjoy the art and entertainment as the kids work on their projets. Price for each child is $5.00 to cover material costs.
